TEXT / JAVIER R. CRUZ
Armando’s adolescent interest in photography has never been extinguished, on the contrary, it has grown and grown over the years. His refined sensibility, always attentive to the human environment, and, to the nuanced play of bodies in their daily palpitation, led him to the portrait of those beings who interpellate his gaze.
In this new series, Armando Frezze Durand uses as his starting point the Andean arcabuceros archangels from the XVII century. His intention is to reinterpret the traditional works of angels with childish faces, and, supplant them with new warrior angels from the new millennium.

History tells us that Aborigines in south America painted angels in the attire of those who had been taught to believe in them.
These new celestial messengers are portrayed with what the photographer considers his evangelizing force, the nudity and the story of his skin.

The aim of this new photography series is to propose contemporary Faith Conversion, and, to redefine the place of masculine beauty in this new crossroads between the new and the old World. Taking as departure point the essence of the force contained in the attitude of these young individuals, and their defiant image.
